Los [[astrocitoma_pilocitico|astrocitomas pilocíticos]] focales tienen un pronóstico más favorable. 

Estos surgen con más frecuencia en el techo del mesencéfalo, focalmente dentro del puente o en la unión cervicomedular, donde son a menudo exofíticos y tienen un pronóstico mucho mejor que los tumores intrínsecos difusos.
