Tipos de hospitales

Un hospital universitario es una institución sanitaria dedicada la asistencia, docencia e investigación médica.

Lo que lo diferencia de otros hospitales es su vinculación y compromiso con las funciones esenciales de la universidad: docencia, investigación y extensión.

Un hospital universitario no tiene que ser necesariamente de “alto nivel” (de “cuarto nivel” según la clasificación en algunos países) puede ser un hospital de primero, segundo o tercer nivel asistencial. En su denominación oficial, un hospital universitario no precisa obligatoriamente incorporar la expresión “universitario” para serlo.
